A Journey Rooted in Purpose: My Reflections on the EMWWAA Award

This year, I had the honour of winning EMWWAA’s national Young Achiever Award, and its impact on me has been profound. As a girl of minority descent, I have never witnessed a celebration of minority, female talent like that of EMWWAA.

Lal Davies is an award-winning filmmaker with South Indian and Southern Irish heritages. Lal has an established practice of first-person narrative and short documentary filmmaking in social justice; racial equity; education and heritage contexts and an emerging practice of a multi-disciplinary art practice using film, photography and poetry distinctly and at the blurred edges where they meet.
