Covid-19 has disrupted all our lives but our human instinct pushes us, inspires us to come together, and adapt to and adopt a new normal.

Cardiff University International Students: Being away form family during these times can be a challenging and emotional experience, so our founder, Prof Upadhyaya made sure to enquire about the safety and welfare of Cardiff University’s international students. She phoned them regularly to keep their spirits up. 

Social support: Our trustee Vimla Patel has helped people with food and accommodation wherever possible. Temmy Woolston, our trustee has been advising people in her community on queries relating to COVID-19 on multiple issues including medical, housing, homelessness, work, and furlough. She has also provided support on access to food vouchers, shielding letters, promoting small businesses in her area with the delivery of food, promoting charities who are serving the community and, arranging food parcels for delivery. She has also spoken on phone with vulnerable and lonely people through the lockdown.

COVID-19 BAME Advisory Group: We are all well aware that the BAME community is being disproportionately affected by COVID-19. Meena Upadhyaya is on the COVID-19 BAME Advisory Group which has been set up by the Welsh Government to help understand the various socio-economic and medical factors involved with the disease and to develop risk assessment tools and guidelines which can help wider communities including the BAME community to protect themselves.
